Welcome, one and all, to the Rose of the Winds!
Otherwise known as the Compass Rose. I chose the name because my compass has been spinning wildly out of control lately. I've traveled from the North to the South and now the Midwest in what some would call an epic journey. I call it way too many hours crammed in a car seat. (Seriously. I measure distance by hours now. A trip that takes six hours feels like a breeze.)
The chances of anyone reading this blog are slim, but I thought it might be (dare I say it?) therapeutic and useful for practicing my writing. A friend of mine (Lylyss Silvertree--anyone know her?) has been blogging for a year or so. Hers is called Obscure Antiquities, and it's all about historical events that interest her. She talked to me a few months back about collaborating someday, and I thought, Hmm. Sure.
Rose of the Winds is probably going to be a commentary on everyday life, with a special emphasis on books because I am a full-fledged bibliophile. There's going to be a lot of book reviews, y'all. And I have a habit of using words that are bigger than necessary--"Introductory Statement"? I could've just said "The Beginning". Just warning you. :D
So here goes nothing.
